After having spent her childhood in Bethesda, Maryland, Karin Smeds went to Russia in her teenage years to study Russian and russian culture. In Russia her interest for art and photography evolved and became serious. She started art school and got involved in all kinds of art, music and pop culture projects. In Stockholm she assisted fashion photo shoots and realised this was her thing. During the 90’s she had the opportunity to work with the young and new designers like Carin Rodebjer, Roland Hjort at Whyred and Johnny Johansson at Acne Studios. She has been working for most of the fashion magazines like Vogue and Elle and had the role as fashion director for Plaza and Cover magazine. Today she is one of Sweden’s most experienced and well-known stylists, finding her inspiration in memories and people in her life, curating and refine it to contemporary style.
